Kids Bedroom Ideas - planning a kids bedroom from scratch or rethinking one that is already up and running?
In which case you've already discovered that coming up with some fresh ideas for your kids bedroom is somewhat harder than you first imagined it would be!
Hopefully we can come up with a few pointers, ideas or just a different angle for you to work from.
It is especially difficult because all kids once they have grown up from being little babies need some personal space, yet this very much needs to be balanced with your needs as a parent.
As well as this there are the obvious cost and space considerations ... are kids sharing a room? how much new furniture can we buy? what is the room to be used for?
What is the Kids Bedroom to be used for?
 Uses of the Kids Bedroom ...OK, this sounds like a simple question, it's a kids bedroom after all, what do you think it's for you might say!! To start with, the primary function in most cases would be as a sleeping area for your child, of course... as well as this, the bedroom may well be expected to double up as a playroom with associated storage areas. Perhaps a homework area is appropriate, or at least a small, private study zone where your child can keep books, pens, pencils and such like. Will the room be only for your kid/s or will a bunch of kids be playing in there together from time to time. To this end, purpose built toy chests or boxes work well - I think these have the added factor of being fun for kids to explore as well, because there is something exciting about opening up a chest to reveal the goodies inside. I've included these fun old designs, seen on the right for space saving ideas from the old days, well not such old days ... a mere generation or two away I should think. The interesting thing is of course, is that it is an interesting reminder of how there is nothing really new around, just a reworking of old ideas... Just for fun I took a walk down the high street - I use the term loosely, I really mean, I nipped into two department stores and a big furniture superstore, but you get my point - looking at kids bedroom furniture, each of those stores I checked out had products very similiar to the ones I've pictured here!! ... more modern in style of course, but the basic designs were the same.
